KEN BERNSTEIN ART
KEN BERNSTEIN ART
STREET SCENE, DAY in downtown Washington, D.C.
From sketches done around the Atlas Building, that was across from the FBI and National Portrait Galley. The streets were filled with government workers, homeless and tourists.
F STREET
Looking west, faceless government workers, delivery truck, I place myself behind the stoplight.
The 930 Club and RITZ were on this block.
VIDEO ARCADE
Yep, I liked playing the games. Also, good place to capture unsuspecting subjects.
TTHE LIVING ROOM- Study
SHOOTING ON 9TH STREET
One night, as I was exiting the Atlas Building, there were a number of police and person laying on the ground, handcuffed. I was informed the victim had robbed the liquor store.
THE LINE
From a memory looking out a hotel room window.
THE LINE- Study, oil on paper.
After being laid off from the Capital Children's Museum due to budget cuts, I found the unemployment line a good place for some sketching.
THE LINE-RED
The Line is about time.
The Line Green-
A variation with a person behind the counter scratching his head.
THE LINE - AT PUTTING ON THE RITZ
F Street in NW Washington, D.C.
The abandoned Ritz became an event. My contribution is the 30 foot Line on the second floor. The city closed it down after two weeks. From The Washington Post:
Put-On at The Ritz
By Paul Richard April 2, 1983
"Putting on the Ritz" is the loudest low-rent art show this city has ever seen. Enormous, gross and voguish, it giggles.
